Benjamin Allen Phillips

Born August 23, 1801

Cumberland County, VA.

Died January 4, 1855

Nashville

 

He and his wife Harriet Hazlegrove Phillips

came to Nashville in 1829 from Virginia by

covered wagon through the Cumberland Gap.

They were parents of six sons and five

daughters, two of whom, Mary Hooper

Phillips King and Benjamin Allen Phillips, Jr.

are buried on this lot. Harriet Hazlegrove

Phillips is buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

 

Erected in 1963 by descendants of

Harriet and Benjamin Allen

Phillips in grateful veneration
